To help us design the book of your dreams, it is important that you read and follow the following guidelines before submitting images to us for use on the cover or in the interior of your book.
Cover Graphics
Cover graphics* that you submit to us must meet the following requirements:
- TIFF (.tif) file format
- CMYK colorspace
- 300-dpi resolution
- Match the dimension of the final trim size, plus 1/4″ on all sides (i.e., a cover for a 6″ x 9″ book would need to be submitted at 6.125″ x 9.25″)
- Copyright permission from the creator (artist, photographer, etc.) to use the work on your book cover
*Sample graphics, sketches and other images that will only be used as ideas or guidelines for the design team can be submitted in any format.
Author Photos
If you wish to include an author photo on the back cover or in the back matter of your book, it must meet the following requirements:
- TIFF (.tif) format
- CMYK colorspace for back cover and interior of color interior books, Grayscale for interior of black-and-white interior books
- 300-dpi resolution
- 3″ x 3″ minimum printed size
- Copyright permission from the creator (artist, photographer, etc.) to use the work in your book design
Interior Graphics
Photos or illustrations that you wish to include in your book must meet the following requirements:
- TIFF (.tif) file format
- Grayscale colorspace for black-and-white interior books, CMYK for color interior books
- 300-dpi resolution
- Exactly the dimensions you want the image to appear in the final book, unless you want the image to “bleed” (run off the edges of the page). For bleed images add 1/4 ” on all sides (i.e., a bleed illustration for a 6″ x 9″ book would need to be submitted at 6.125″ x 9.25″)
- Copyright permission from the creator (artist, photographer, etc.) to use the work in your book design
